Ben Chaplin was born Benedict Greenwood on 31 July 1970 in Sunderland, UK. He is an English actor.

His first role was in romantic comedy “The Truth About Cats and Dogs” starring Uma Thurman and Janeane Garofalo. He also starred in Terence Malick’s World War II drama “The Thin Red Line” alongside Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, Nick Nolte and George Clooney.

His other roles including “Lost Souls” opposite Winona Ryder, “Washington Square” with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Maggie Smith, “Feast of July” and “The Remains of the Day”.

His last projects was Lost Souls (2000), action The Touch (2002), Chromophobia (2005) and The New World (2005).
