William Edward "Bill" Fichtner was born on November 27, 1956 in East Meadow, New York. He is an American actor. He is often credited as William Fichtner and occasionally as Bill Fichtner.

He starred in Heat (1995), Armageddon (1998), Equilibrium (2002), Black Hawk Down (2001), Pearl Harbor (2001) and Crash (2004). He is best known as a character actor, taking on supporting roles.

His last movies include Ultraviolet (2006) and Blades of Glory (2007).

William Fichtner was chosen to play Agent Alexander Mahone in the second season (2006-2007) of Prison Break.
