Robert Knepper was born on July 8, 1959 in Fremont, Ohio. He is an American actor. His father, Donald, is a veterinarian who currently owns practices in Toledo and Perrysburg. His mother, Pat Deck, worked in the props department for the Maumee community theater while Rob was growing up. Her involvement in theater gave Rob his interest in becoming an actor.
Robert spent many years working in community theater and high school productions. He graduated in 1977 from Maumee High School and from 1977 to 1981, attended Northwestern University where he studied drama. Since then, he has performed a wide variety of roles in TV and film.
His mother died during the last week of filming The Pennsylvania Coal Miners' Story, the movie depicting the true story of the Quecreek mine rescue in which Rob played Mark Popernack, the last of the nine miners to be rescued.
He starred in Hostage (2005), Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005) and TV Episodes prison Break. He has recently been cast for the upcoming film Hitman, but his role is yet to be released.
Robert lives with his wife, Tori, and three-year-old boy, Ben, in their Los Angeles, California home.
