Michael Carmen Pitt was born on April 10, 1981 in West Orange, New Jersey. He is an American actor.

He has worked with such directors as Gus Van Sant in Finding Forrester, John Cameron Mitchell in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Larry Clark in Bully. In Last Days, he plays a rock star based on former Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain. He performed all of the songs himself and closely resembles Cobain's guitar and singing styles.

In 2007, he will star opposite Keira Knightley in Silk, adapted from the novel by Alessandro Baricco. He also stars in The Village (2004), The Hawk Is Dying (2006) and romantic-comedy Delirious (2007).
