Leonard Gary Oldman was born on March 21, 1958 in New Cross, London, England. He is an Emmy Award-nominated, Saturn and BAFTA Award-winning English actor, writer and director.

His first appeared was in Sid and Nancy (1986) and Prick Up Your Ears (1987). He has played a wide variety of character roles over the years, reliably playing hellraisers and villains with exuberance.

He is best known for such films as JFK (1991), Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), Air Force One (1997), The Fifth Element (1997) and Hannibal (2001). Since 2004 he has played Sirius Black in the film versions of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007).

He also starred in Luc Besson’s action Leon (1994), Criminal Law (1988), True Romance (1993), Immortal Beloved (1994), The Contender (2000) and Batman Begins (2005).

Oldman has been married to Lesley Manville (1988 - 1990) and Uma Thurman (1990 - 1992) and also has three sons.
