Judi Dench

Dame Judith Olivia Dench was born on 9 December 1934 in York, North Yorkshire, UK. She usually known as Dame Judi Dench, is an Academy Award, Golden Globe, Tony, three-time BAFTA, and six-time Laurence Olivier Award-winning English actress.

She made her stage debut as Ophelia in Hamlet (1957) in Liverpool. A member of the Old Vic Company (1957–61), she became one of Britain's most distinguished classical actresses.

Her television credits include plays and the popular sitcom A Fine Romance (1981–4), in which she co-starred with Michael Williams (1935–2001), her husband from 1971, and later TV plays include The Last of the Blonde Bombshells (2000, Golden Globe; BAFTA Best Actress).

Her films include Henry V (1989), Mrs Brown (1997), and Shakespeare in Love (1998), and she played M in the James Bond films Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and The World is Not Enough (1999).

Among later films are Iris (2002), Ladies in Lavender (2004), and Mrs Henderson Presents (2005).

Her other feature films include 84 Charing Cross Road (1987), Chocolat (2000) and The Shipping News (2001).

In 1971 Judi Dench married British actor Michael Williams and they had their only child, Tara Cressida Williams.

Judi Dench was awarded the OBE in 1970, became a Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1988.
