James McAvoy was born on January 1, 1979, in Glasgow, Scotland. James trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and first appeared in 1995 in the film "The Near Room."

He also has starred in the television mini-series "The Band of Brothers" and the Sci-Fi Channel's "Children of Dune." He is most known for his role of faun Mr. Tumnus in the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe." James is a highly skilled boxer, fencer and rugby player and is also a fire-eater.

His last projects include The Last King of Scotland (2006), Penelope (2006) and Becoming Jane (2007).
