Christopher Julius Rock was born on February 7, 1965 in Andrews, South Carolina, USA. He is an Emmy and Grammy Award-winning American comedian, actor, screenwriter, television producer, film producer and director.

At age 18, Rock was discovered by Eddie Murphy at New York's Comedy Strip. A small role in Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) was Rock's film debut. Rock also starred in Keenan Ivory Wayans' I'm Gonna Get You Sucka (1988), which exploited racism in a comedic manner.

He became nationally known thanks to the television comedy shows Saturday Night Live (1989-92) and In Living Color (1993-94), as well as brief appearances in several movies during the '90s.

Rock was a Grammy winner in 2000's with Bigger and Blacker and in 2005's with Never Scared, an Emmy winner in 1997's with Bring the Pain and an author.

He also starred in Bad Company (2001) opposite Anthony Hopkins; Head of State (2003), Madagascar (2005) and I Think I Love My Wife (2007).

Rock has been married to Malaak Compton since November 23, 1996.
