Alec Baldwin was born on April 3, 1958 in Massapequa, New York. He is an Academy Award-nominated, Screen Actors Guild Award-winning, and a Golden Globe Award-winning American actor. He is the eldest of the Baldwin brothers, has starred in many movies and TV shows such as 30 Rock, and has hosted Saturday Night Live 13 times.
Alec Baldwin started on the stage and soon moved to television, cast in the series The Doctors in 1980. He has appeared in dozens of feature films, including Beetlejuice (1988), Miami Blues (1990) and Ghosts of Mississippi (1996), and he did voice work for 2001's Final Fantasy. His filmography is a mixed bag that includes broad comedy such as the blockbuster The Cat in the Hat (2003) and dramas such as The Cooler (2003).
In 1992 Baldwin was nominated for a Tony award for his Broadway performances of A Streetcar Named Desire. Baldwin is an outspoken activist for the environment and animal rights, and was married to actress Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2001. His films include The Hunt for Red October (1990), Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), The Getaway (1994), The Edge (1997) and the Martin Scorsese films The Aviator (2004) and The Departed (2006).
Alec Baldwin's marriage to Kim Basinger came to end in 2000 when they officially separated. A year later, Basinger filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court.
