Jude Law was born on December 29, 1972 in Lewisham, South London, England. He is an Academy Award nominated English actor.

After several roles in theatre in 1994 he made his film debut, in the poorly received British film Shopping; the film also featured Law’s future wife, Sadie Frost, an actress best known for her appearance in Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992).

In 1990s he was on the big screen, earning female fans with his smouldering gaze and critical praise for his roles opposite Ethan Hawke in the cerebral sci-fi film Gattaca (1997) and Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999).

Jude appeared with Ed Harris in Enemy at the Gates (2001), and starred in Steven Spielberg's A. I. Artificial Intelligence. He was nominated for a best actor Oscar for Cold Mountain (2004).

He also starred in: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) with Gwyneth Paltrow; the remake of Alfie (2004); I Heart Huckabees (2004) with Dustin Hoffman; Martin Scorsese's The Aviator (2004); Closer (2004) starred opposite Julia Roberts; All the King's Men (2006) and The Holiday (2006) opposite Cameron Diaz and Jack Black.
