Tim Robbins

Tim Robbins is one of the film industry's most versatile actors, writers, and directors.

Born October 16, 1958 in West Covina, California. He made his performing debut alongside his father on a duet of the protest song Ink Is Black But the Page Is White. At the age of 12 Robbins joined the Theatre for the New City, remaining a member for the next seven years.

Movies became more of a serious artistic ambition for Robbins after he won the central role of pitching phenom "Nuke" LaLoosh in Bull Durham in 1988. Most successful movie in witch he play was Robert Altman's The Player (1992), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Top Gun (1986) and Mystic River (2003)

In 1995 he directed, produced, and wrote the screenplay for the highly acclaimed film Dead Man Walking. Tim earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Director along with four awards at the Berlin Film Festival, the Christopher Award, and two Humanitas Awards. The film also earned a nomination for Best Actor for Sean Penn, as well as the Academy Award for Best Actress for Susan Sarandon.

Tim Robbins won an Oscar as best supporting actor for his role in the 2003 drama Mystic River.

He and actress Susan Sarandon have lived together since 1988.
