Born Walter Bruce Willison on a military base in West Germany, Bruce Willis moved to Pensgrove, New Jersey at the age of two, where he grew up.
Willis was educated at Pensgrove High School and Montclair State College before he left New Jersey to move to New York and become an actor. There, he worked as a waiter and a barman to earn money, whilst making minor appearances on the stage.
However, a casting director who was looking for someone to play a barman in a film soon spotted him working as a bartender, beginning Willis’ film career.
During the period 1985-89, Willis starred opposite Cybill Shepherd in the TV series 'Moonlighting', winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, and an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
In 1987 Bruce Willis married fellow actor Demi Moore, and the couple had three children, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah.
The following year Bruce appeared in 'Die Hard', the first of a number of action films that he has starred in, including 'Die Hard 2', and 'Die Hard With A Vengeance'.
Willis has taken on a wide range of film roles in his career, appearing in films such as 'Bonfire Of The Vanities', 'Pulp Fiction', and the critically acclaimed 'Twelve Monkeys'.
Other successful films for Willis include 'The Fifth Element', 'Sixth Sense' and 'The Whole Nine Yards'.
Bruce Willis and Demi Moore divorced in 2000.
