Keira Christina Knightley is the daughter of actor Will Knightley and Sharman Macdonald. After she requested an agent at the age of three, her parents allowed her to work on productions in her summer holidays. Her first role was at the age of 9, in A Village Affair (1994). However, Knightley's first high profile role came in 1999, in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). Since then she has completed an impressive array of films including The Hole (2001).

Knightley's breakthrough role was in the English football-themed film, Bend It Like Beckham, which was a major success in its August 2002. Later, she was offered to cast in the big budget action film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Knightley starred in three 2005 films; The Jacket, Domino, and finally Pride and Prejudice.
