Keri was to David and Stephanie Russell. She studied dance while in school but her discovery by a talent scout in Denver lead to acting jobs in commercials, movies and TV.

Keri began her career on the Mickey Mouse Club in 1991. She stayed with the show until 1993, and then she moved to LA to pursue an acting career. Keri's breakthrough role came in 1998 where she played "Felicity Porter" in the WB's popular series "Felicity" (1998). In 1999, Keri won her first Golden Globe award for her role in "Felicity" (1998) in which she continued until the show ended in 2002.

She won a role in The Upside of Anger which starred Kevin Costner and Joan Allen and filmed in the U.K. in the fall of 2003. May 2004 saw shooting begin in Canada on The Magic of Ordinary Days, a Hallmark, and made-for-TV movie. In July 2004, Keri joined the cast of Into the West, a limited series from Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks Productions set to air in 2005 on TNT.
