Kathleen York is an EMI recording artist singer-songwriter, and Academy Award nominated songwriter as well as a film and television actor. She is also known as Bird York.
Her song, "In the Deep", on her album The Velvet Hour was featured in the movie Crash and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song. On March 5, 2006, York performed the song live at the 78th Academy Awards ceremony. Her songs have also appeared in Nip Tuck, CSI: NY, House and Everwood, and she wrote and performed all the songs for the 2001 season of the Paul Haggis CBS series Family Law.
As an actor, Kathleen has starred in numerous films, mini series and television projects, among them a recurring role as Andrea Wyatt on multi Emmy Award winning series The West Wing' and soon to be recurring on ABC's Desperate Housewives in the 2006-2007 season. She also starred as a young Naomi Judd in the four hour NBC mini series about the country singer's life. Other credits include films with Tom Waits (Cold Feet), Tom Cavanaugh, (Sublime in 2007), Curb Your Enthusiasm (in the episode "The Massage"), Northern Lights (with Diane Keaton), a cameo in Crash, and starring roles in indie films Sister Island, The Big Day and Footsteps as well as many other major film and television projects.
