Anthony Charles Edwards was born on July 19, 1962 in Santa Barbara, California. He is an Emmy Award-winning American actor and director.

Edwards had his first starring role in the 1984 comedy Revenge of the Nerds. He appeared alongside Tom Cruise in Top Gun (1986). Edwards also appeared in Hawks (1988) and starred in the 1990 movie Downtown with Penelope Ann Miller and Forest Whitaker.

He is best known for his role on the long-running TV series ER. In 2007, Edwards appeared in thriller Zodiac.

Edwards has been married to Jeanine Lobell since 1994.
