Viola Davis was born on August 11, 1965 Saint Matthews, South Carolina. She is a Tony Award-winning American actress.

In 2001, she was awarded the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her portrayal of "Tonya" in King Hedley II.

Davis has appeared in three films by Steven Soderbergh, Out of Sight (1998), Traffic (2000) and Solaris (2002).

Her television work includes a role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2002) and "Traveler" (2007).

Her last credits include World Trade Center (2006) and Disturbia (2007).
