Maura Lynn Tierney was born on February 3, 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She is an Emmy-nominated American actress.

After appearing in several plays, she moved to Los Angeles, California and in 1987 got her first break in a role in Walt Disney's made-for-TV film Student Exchange.

Tierney played Nurse Abigail "Abby" Lockhart on ER. In 2004, Tierney won the second season tournament of Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown against Lauren Graham.

She also appeared in Insomnia (2002), Diggers (2006), Semi-Pro (2008) and Baby Mama (2008).

Tierney married actor-director Billy Morrissette in February 1993 but they divorced 13 years later.
