Michael Austin Cera was born on June 7, 1988 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He is a Canadian television and film actor.
Michael began acting in commercials when he was nine years old. And in 1998, Michael landed a voice-over role in the television series 'Rolie Polie Olie' voicing the character of Little Gizmo. Around the same time, Michael also became a regular on the Fox Family Channel comedy series 'I was a Sixth Grade Alien' playing Larrabe Hicks.
He had auditioned for the role of Cole Sear in the mystery thriller 'The Sixth Sense', but the role went to Haley Joel Osment instead. Michael later appeared in the films 'Steal This Movie' (2000) and 'Frequency' (2000) and played the young Chuck Barris in the 2002 film 'Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind'. Michael has guest starred on the television show 'Veronica Mars' as a character named Dean.
Other voice-over roles that Michael has done is as Josh Spitz in the cartoon series 'Braceface', as Brother Bear in 'The Berenstain Bears' (one episode) and also voiced Howard Stern in the television series 'Howard Stern: The High School Years'. However, Michael's most famous television role is as George Michael Bluth on the Fox series 'Arrested Development'. As for movie roles, Michael was in two very successful movies, 'Superbad' and 'Juno'. His movie 'Juno' has been nominated for three Golden Globe awards this year. And at the Critic's Choice Awards, Michael was nominated twice for 'Best Young Actor', one time for each of his movies.
He plays guitar in his free time and is a band called The Long Goodbye. Michael and his friend, Clark Duke, have set up a faux Production Company called Pure Gold Dynamite. The two of them have also made a mini-series called 'Clark and Michael'.
