Jonathan Vincent "Jon" Voight is an Academy Award winning American actor. He was born in Yonkers, New York to a Czech father and an English American mother. He received a best actor Oscar Award for his performance in the film Coming Home.
He has also been nominated for an Academy Award for his performances in the films Midnight Cowboy, Runaway Train and Ali. He has also won a small cult following after a guest appearance on TV show Seinfeld.
Voight married the French-Canadian actress Marcheline Bertrand on December 12, 1971. The couple had two children, actress Angelina Jolie and James Haven. Voight and Bertrand separated in 1976, and divorced in 1978.
Voight said on The O'Reilly Factor that he was a practicing Roman Catholic, and has recently played the lead role in a mini-series on the life of Pope John Paul II, receiving an Emmy nomination for his performance.
