Ricardo Antonio Chavira was born on September 1, 1971 in Austin, Texas, USA. He is a Mexican American actor.

In a few short years he earned credits in all areas of the entertainment industry – Film, Television & Theatre. In addition to Desperate Housewives, his TV credits include a series regular role on The Grubbs (FOX), recurring roles on Six Feet Under (HBO) and The Divison (Lifetime), and guest star roles on Joan Of Arcadia (CBS), Kingpin (NBC), “24” (FOX), JAG (CBS) as well as Nypd Blue (ABC) and two other Steven Bocho shows, Philly (ABC) and City Of Angels (CBS).

Ricardo starred in a production of Tracers at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles, and he has worked at some of the country’s top regional theatres including the La Jolla Playhouse (Dogeaters), The Guthrie (Jack And Jill), San Diego Rep (Bandido) and most recently the Seattle Rep & Missouri Rep, where he starred in a co-production of Living Out. Film credits include Touchstone’s The Alamo, the upcoming short film Latebloomer, and several other independent films.

Ricardo can look forward to a busy hiatus from DH that includes a European Press Tour for the show. In addition, he will be the first male to appear on the cover of Catalina Magazine, the largest “lifestyle magazine” for Hispanic Women in the country and he is featured in the upcoming “50 Most Beautiful” issue of People En Espanol which hits newsstands on on May 2nd. He guest stars in the May 3rd episode of ABC’s George Lopez Show, and the Latino Commission on AIDS will present him with the ILKA Award at their 10th Annual Cielo Latino benefit gala to be held on May 20th at NYC’s Copacabana Nightclub.

Ricardo will be a “distinguished guest speaker” at the June 12th graduation ceremony of Warren College, the largest of UC-SD’s six undergraduate colleges, and Ricardo has recently been named as San Antonio’s honorary spokesman for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, as well as the National Team Captain for the June 4th "Race for the Cure" in Washington DC.

Chavira married Marcea Dietzel September 22, 2007.
