Robert Michael Schneider was born on October 31, 1963 in San Francisco, California, USA. He is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and director.

He began writing jokes as a teen in San Francisco, appearing at local venues including the Holy City Zoo. After cutting his teeth on live stage as the opening act for such comedians as Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, he made his major network television debut on The David Letterman Show in 1987.

Following an appearance on HBO's 13th Annual Young Comedians in 1990, he was spotted by Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels. An SNL cast member for four seasons, Rob has moved on to a successful feature film career.

Besides acting in over 25 feature films such as The Waterboy, Home Alone 2, Big Daddy, 50 First Dates, and a cameo appearance in Around the World in 80 Days, Rob has also written and starred in a number of films including Deuce Bigalow, The Animal and The Hot Chick.

In addition to acting and writing, Rob has been active in a number of charities throughout the years. Rob founded his own charity, The Rob Schneider Music Foundation, to encourage and assist in music education for middle and high school students.

Schneider is a single father, with a daughter named Elle. He is good friends with fellow SNL alums Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock, and Norm Macdonald.
