Dylan McDermott was born on 26 October 1961 in Waterbury, Connecticut, USA. He is an American actor.

McDermott was encouraged by Eve Ensler, his father's third wife and author of The Vagina Monologues, who legally adopted McDermott when he was 19 years old, to pursue an acting career.

He attended acting school at the Jesuit-run Fordham University, as well as The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.

He appeared in Wonderland (2003), The Tenants (2005), Edison (2005) and The Messengers (2007). Now, he starred in TV Series "Big Shots" (2007).

McDermott used to date actress Julia Roberts. He married actress Shiva Afshar Rose.
